PolyServe Lands OEM Deal with XIOtech

XIOtech Corporation, the storage network software house, will resell PolyServe's Matrix Server clustering software for Linux systems along with its Magnitude RAC Pack offering.

RAC Pack is an integrated, pre-configured bundle for deploying Oracle9i Real Application Cluster, including servers, database and storage infrastructure.

Separately, PolyServe announced that it had clustered 16 Intel-based Linux servers running three Oracle databases and associated application workloads. It's supposed to be the largest and most flexible implementation of Oracle9i RAC yet.

PolyServe said the proof-of-concept demo validated a new deployment methodology called Flexible Database Clusters that enables up to 16 low-cost Intel servers to be used for a single database cluster running multiple Oracle application workloads.
